Eighth Circuit US Court of Appeals Case Law
Established in 1868, the US Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit holds appellate jurisdiction over courts in the following districts:
- Eastern District of Arkansas
- Western District of Arkansas
- Northern District of Iowa
- Southern District of Iowa
- District of Minnesota
- Eastern District of Missouri
- Western District of Missouri
- District of Nebraska
- District of North Dakota
- District of South Dakota
The court is based in St. Louis, Missouri and encompassed at one time almost all the land included in the Louisiana Purchase. Congress passed a statute in 1929 dividing the Eighth Circuit, placing Wyoming, Colorado, Utah, New Mexico, Kansas, and Oklahoma into a new Tenth Circuit Court of Appeals.
